The picturesque holiday and fishing village of Kukljica is located in a spacious natural bay on the extreme southeastern part of the island of Ugljan. The island of Ugljan, with an area of 52 km² and 75 km of indented coastline, is separated from the opposite city of Zadar by the Zadar Canal , which is only 3 NM wide. Ugljan is connected to the mainland by regular and frequent ferry lines (Zadar-Preko and Biograd-Tkon) and to the island of Pasman by the bridge over the Zdrelac Canal.

Kukljica is also called "the gateway to the Telascica Nature Park and the Kornati Islands National Park" because it is not far from the narrow Zdrelac Canal. Kukljica has been associated with sea, seafaring and fishing for generations and recently it has become a popular destination for many tourists, especially boaters and day trippers. The old town center is separated from the Zelena Punta peninsula by a natural bay in which there are numerous fishing boats and, due to the creation of additional jetties in recent years, many sailing boats. A walk on the waterfront with a view of the harbor with numerous fishing and sailing boats is a real pleasure.

There is a valuable cultural monument in the Kostanj Bay: the renovated old Croatian church of St. Jerome from the 13th century. The village also offers a unique attraction: every year on August 5th, the holiday of Our Lady of the Snow, a traditional procession dating back to 1514 takes place. On this occasion, the Madonna statue is carried along the sea, accompanied by countless large and small boats from the parish church of St. Paul from the 17th century to the pilgrimage church of the Snow Madonna in the Zdrelac Canal, where according to tradition 500 years ago, in the middle of summer Snow fell.

In the immediate vicinity of the village, on both sides of the island, the attractive sandy beaches of Sabusa, Jelenica and Kostanj stretch out in the shade of centuries-old pine trees.

Mild and healing Mediterranean climate, where calm sea alternates with favorable winds. In summer the maestral brings refreshment, while in winter the northeast and south winds prevail. The average air temperature from May to October is 22 ° C. Every year 2500 hours of sunshine are recorded.
