Polača (it. Polazza ) is a place and a municipality in Croatia . The Polača municipality is located in the Zadar County near the town of Benkovac .

The community consists of four places (Naselja):
- Donja Jagodnja
- Gornja Jagodnja
- Kakma
- Polača (Polazza)
Population development
According to the 2011 census, the municipality had 1,464 inhabitants, of which 88.49% were Croatians and 10.42% were Serbs . The place had 1,055 inhabitants in 2011. According to the 2001 census, the municipality of Polača had 1,411 inhabitants, of which 93.72% were Croatians. The main town Polača had 1,117 inhabitants in 2001
history
During the Croatian War in 1991, the listed Cosmas and Damian Church (Sv. Kuzma Damijan) , built in 1820, was damaged by the Serbian armed forces with explosives. The municipality was on the southern border of the de facto independent and Serbian dominated Republic of Serbian Krajina (Republika Srpska Krajina) founded in December 1991 until it was recaptured from Croatia in September 1995 by Operation Oluja ( Operation Storm ).
After the Croatian War, hundreds of new houses were built in Polača.
