Jasenice is a municipality in Croatia in the Zadar County .
Location and inhabitants
Jasenice is located about 40 km northeast of Zadar . The municipality is located in the hinterland of the Velebit Mountains.
The municipality Jasenice has 1,398 inhabitants and consists of the two places Zaton Obrovački (126 inhabitants) and Jasenice with 1,272 inhabitants (2011 census), which also includes the district Maslenica .
history
The Velebit fairy , an old Croatian legend, can be seen on the municipality's coat of arms .
The area around Jasenice was an important place for the Winneto films in the 1960s. A Winnetou theme park is also being discussed in Jasenice.
During the Croatian war in 1991, Jasenica was exposed to severe Serbian attacks and was significantly destroyed.
