Kyle Edward Singler (born May 4, 1988 in Medford , Oregon ) is a retired American basketball player .

career

Singler began his career in his hometown, at South Medford High School . After graduating in 2007, he went to Duke University , where he was active until 2011 for the Blue Devils trained by Mike Krzyzewski . In his first season as a freshman , Singler was named Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year. In the 2009/10 season he won the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship with the Blue Devils and was also named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four .

In the 2011 NBA draft , the Detroit Pistons selected him in 33rd place, but due to the lockout , he was ultimately unable to sign his rookie contract with the NBA team. Singler then decided to move to the Spanish ACB league , where he was signed by Lucentum Alicante . He quickly developed into one of the league's discoveries and was voted MVP of the day on his league debut on October 9, 2011, in which he brought it to 23 points, four rebounds and three assists.

When the NBA players' union and representatives of the team owners agreed on a new collective agreement and announced the end of the lockout, Singlers were expected to move to the North American professional league, but on November 30, 2011 he accepted an offer from Real Madrid and signed one Contract with the Spanish record champions running until the end of the 2011/12 season. Singler won the Spanish Cup among the “Royal” and reached the final of the ACB league.

After the season he finally moved to the Pistons. In Detroit, he played his way into the starting five, averaged 8.8 points and 4 rebounds per game in his first season and was elected to the all-rookie second team .

Singler was part of the United States' squad at the 2006 FIBA ​​U-18 American Championship, where he and his team won the gold medal with a 104-82 finish against Argentina.
