Öffelsterz is a district of the community Schonungen in the district of Schweinfurt in Lower Franconia . Öffelsterz is the highest church village in the district but not the highest village, this is Hoppachshof at 403 m above sea level. NN. Löffelsterz is the location of the Schweinfurt Golf Club.

Öffelsterz is located eleven kilometers northeast of Schweinfurt and six kilometers northeast of Schonungen. The village is located in the Schweinfurt Rhön , 6 km south of Lake Ellertshausen , in a cleared island . The place is on a north edge up to 400 m above sea level. NN rising high plateau, which was sometimes snowy until the post-war decades.

history

The first documentary mention dates from the year 1234. In that year, Count Otto von Botenlauben donated the village to the Frauenroth monastery that he founded . After the spoon Sterzer from 1460 to the family of Berlichingen and from 1526 those of Pommersfelden tenth charge were the tithe went to the family of Erthal. The feudal lord was the Hochstift Würzburg . In the 1660s the village came into the possession of the University of Würzburg. Large parts of the village were destroyed in fires in 1787 and 1791.

On May 1, 1978, Löffelsterz was incorporated into the community of Schonungen.

Regular events

The parish fair takes place annually at the end of November. The carnival session of the Löffelsterzer Faschingsbande (a department of the SV-Blau-Weiß Löffelsterz) always takes place on Friday and Saturday, two weeks before Ash Wednesday.

Parish Church of St. Giles

In 1612 Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn had the parish church rebuilt. 120 years later a new church was built again. The building, executed by master builder Jörg Bierdemphel from Goßmannsdorf, was consecrated in November 1737. In 1875 the entire equipment was sold except for the organ and a neo-Gothic was purchased instead . In 1900 the pastor vonöffelsterz in Augsburg acquired the current rococo furnishings , which are dated to around 1750. In 2005/2006 the interior was renovated and a new popular altar and a new ambo were purchased.

The church consists of a nave with mirror vaults and four window axes. The chancel has a south-facing window and a groin vault . The font dates from 1565, the stucco on the nave ceiling dates from 1732. The organ , built in 1736, was designed by the Würzburg organ builder Johann Philipp Seuffert . The altar leaves are all by Franz Krombach .

Next to the church, the communal brewery and several wayside shrines are under monument protection in the local area.

Economy and Infrastructure

It is not possible to purchase everyday goods inöffelsterz. The retail trade in Schonungen largely fills this gap. A car workshop is located in Löffelsterz. Until 2004 there was a large nursery specializing in orchids on the outskirts. The former greenhouses are now used as a storage location for relief supplies from a non-profit association.

education

There is no kindergarten in the quarter of the village, but the kindergarten children attend the kindergartens in Marktsteinach or Abersfeld . There is a delivery and collection service to the kindergarten in Abersfeld. The primary school students attend primary school in the main town of Schonungen, where there has also been a secondary school since the 2011/12 school year. The middle school students have to change trains in Schonungen and drive to Gochsheim . The next high schools are in Schweinfurt.

Öffelsterz is located directly on the state road 2266 , which joins the federal road 303 4 km north-east of spoonsterz and the federal road 26 8 km south-west . Several times a day on weekdays an OVF bus runs from Löffelsterz to Schweinfurt. At night, the transport takes place via a collective call taxi . There is a connection to the German rail network via the Schonungen train station (about 8 km away).

sport and freetime

Inöffelsterz there is a sports club that offers football, basketball , table tennis , gymnastics and participation in the annual carnival meeting. The men's soccer team plays in the district league .

The Schweinfurt Golf Club maintains an 18-hole course, a public 6-hole course and a public driving range in Löffelsterz .

There is also a horticultural association, the volunteer fire brigade and a music band.
