The La Piramida belongs to the Bial group, a subgroup of the Albula Alps . The municipal boundary between Bergün Filisur and Samedan runs above the 2963  m high summit . In the east the three-sided summit is bordered by the Albula valley, in the south by the Val Bever , a side valley of the Engadine, and in the north-west by the Val Mulix , a side valley of the Albula valley.

The neighboring peaks of La Piramida include Piz dals Vadrettins ( 3061  m ), Piz Bial ( 3061  m ) and Piz d'Alp Val ( 2977  m ) in the west, and Piz Murtel Trigd ( 2900  m ) and Piz in the north Palpuogna ( 2729  m ) and in the east the Igl Danclér ( 2813  m ) and the Cho dal Buoch ( 2672  m ).

There are four mountain saddles along the almost 6 km long ridge of the Bial Group. In the west these are the Fuorcla da Bever ( 2946  m ) and the Fuorcla Biala ( 2884  m ) between the Biz Bial and the Piz dals Vadrettins. It serves both as a connection ridge to Piz Bial and as a transition between Val Bever and Val Mulix. To the east are the Fuorcla Danclér ( 2587  m ) and the Fuorcla Crap Alv ( 2465  m ), which is the end of the Bial group.

Valley locations are Preda and Bever . Frequent starting points for an ascent of La Piramida are Naz , Preda, Palpuegna , the Albula pass road (P. 2077) and the hamlet of Spinas .

The most distant visible point from La Piramida is 139 km to the west on the ridge of the Äbni Flue ( 3961  m ). The summit is located south of the Jungfrau in the Bernese Alps .

Routes to the summit

Summer routes

Over the west ridge

  • Starting point: Naz ( 1746  m ) or Spinas ( 1815  m )
  • Via:
  1. From Naz via Val Mulix, Fuorcla Biala ( 2884  m )
  2. From Spinas to Alp Suvretta ( 2128  m ), then over the slopes of Pasculs da la Piramida and the Chüdera Sütta terrace to Fuorcla Biala
  • Difficulty: L
  • Time required: 5 hours
  • Note: From Fuorcla Biala in beautiful climbing over the Piz dals Vadrettins ( 2977  m ) to the actual Piramida ridge, which is torn at the top and requires a few bypasses on the south side.

Over the north ridge

  • Starting point: Naz ( 1746  m ), Albulapassstrasse (P. 2077) or Spinas ( 1815  m )
  • Via:
  1. From Naz via Alphütte Mulix, then via P. 2572 or Murtelet to the Piz Murtel Trigd . To Alp Mulix as trail white-red-white marks
  2. From the Albula pass road via Sattel between Piz Murtel Trigd and Piz Papluogna (P. 2701) to Piz Murtel Trigd. Marked as a white-red-white hiking trail to Fuorcla Crap Alv
  3. From Spinas via Fuorcla Crap Alv ( 2465  m ) to the saddle between Piz Murtel Trigd and Piz Papluogna (P. 2701) and then to Piz Murtel Trigd. Marked as a white-red-white hiking trail to Fuorcla Crap Alv
  • Difficulty: WS
  • Time required:
  1. 5½ hours from Naz / Preda
  2. 4 hours from the Albula pass road
  3. 4 hours from Spinas
  • Comment: From the Murtel Trigd over the rocky ridge to the Scharte and on the increasingly sharper block ridge, several gendarmes climb over to a slim needle that is bypassed on the left. Over flat steps on the edge and on a larger gendarme. From this first to the east side, then down over the edge and over the ridge to the top. Worthwhile climbing over the jagged rock ridge.

Over the east ridge

  • Starting point: Preda ( 1789  m ), Palpuegna ( 1915  m ), Albulapassstrasse (P. 2077), Spinas ( 1815  m )
  • Via: Fuorcla Crap Alv, Fuorcla Dancler, Igl Danclér ( 2813  m ), P. 2915
  • Difficulty: L until Fuorcla Crap Alv as trail white-red-white highlighted
  • Time required: 4½ hours from Preda, 4 hours from Palpuegna, 4 hours from Spinas, 3¼ hours from the Albula Pass road
  • Note: From Fuorcla Crap Alv via Cho dal Buoch or from Val Bever over the steep slopes between Vallun dal Dancler and Gnifs da la Zuondra to Fuorcla Dancler. From here in a steep grass slope to the entrance. From ribbon to ribbon of lawn over the rocky steps, with small deviations along the edge, finally slightly to the summit. From Danclér without difficulty on the rubble ridge via P. 2915 to the summit of La Piramida.
  • Alternative: From the Fuorcla Dancler bypass the Danclér in the south to the ridge depression between P. 2915 and the summit. Over the ridge without difficulty to the top of the Danclér.

Winter routes

From Preda

The summit area of La Piramida viewed from the northeast.
  • Starting point: Preda ( 1789  m )
  • Via: Palpuegna ( 1915  m ), Seelein P. 2174, shoulder in the east of the Lai Alv ( 2456  m ), below the Cho dal Buoch and Igl Danclér into the hollow northeast of the summit
  • Exposures: N, NE
  • Difficulty: ZS
  • Time required: 4 hours
  • Alternative: From P. 2077 on the Albulapassstrasse
  • Comment:
  1. From the trough northeast of La Piramida, it goes over the noticeably steeper north slope up to a striking rock head east of the summit fall line. To the right of this rock over the very steep slope up to the east ridge and over this to the summit. A very demanding tour in the summit area. Safe conditions are necessary on the steep northern slopes of Piz Palguegna (30–35 °) and on the summit slope (up to 40 ° at 150 m).
  2. The descent is best done on the ascent route. If the conditions are safe, you can descend directly from Lai Alv ( 2456  m ) through the steep creek ditch to Seelein P. 2174.
