The Piz Ot ( Rhaeto-Romanic in the Ladin idioms for "high peak", "high peak") is 3247  m above sea level. M. high mountain in the Albula Alps in the canton of Graubünden in the anterior Val Bever , northwest of Samedan and west of Spinas . It is the eponymous hub of the Piz-Ot group .

Location and surroundings

The Piz Ot is the namesake of the Piz Ot group, which in turn belongs to the Albula Alps . From Piz Ot, side ridges go south-west and north to Piz Güglia and Piz d'Err , and south-east along Val Bever to Cho d'Valletta . The municipal boundary of Bever and Samedan runs over the summit . The Piz Ot is bordered in the north by the Val Bever and in the south by the Val Valletta . Direct neighboring peaks are the Piz de la Funtauna to the west and the Crasta Spinas to the east . Other neighboring peaks are Las Trais Flours, Piz Padella , Piz Spinas, Piz Muottas, Cho d 'Suvretta, Piz Marsch and Piz Saluver and north of Val Bever Igl Dancler, La Piramida, Piz Bial and the Dschimels.

The valley locations are Samedan, Bever and Spinas in the Upper Engadin . Frequent starting points are Spinas and Samedan as well as the mountain station of the Las Trais Fluors chairlift on Fuorcla Valletta.

Thanks to its dominance in all directions, the Piz Ot offers an exceptional panoramic view. Well over 800 peaks can be seen with good visibility with maximum visibility, of which over 350 over 3,000 meters and three over 4,000 meters. The view extends to the Bernese and Valais Alps . In the west z. B. the Oberhalbsteiner Alps with the Piz Platta , the Adula Alps with the Güferhorn , the Latelhorn in the Valais , the Sustenhorn , the Stucklistock and the Dammastock in the Urner Alps , the Hausstock , the Vorab and the Tödi in the Glarus Alps , but also see the Monte Leone in the Lepontine Alps . To the north you have a view from the Calanda (mountain) over the plural Alps with the Aroser Rothorn and the Lenzer Horn , the Glärnisch , the Piz Ela to the Alpstein with Säntis and Altmann (mountain) and the Churfirsten with the Hinterrugg and the Rätikon with the Schesaplana and the falconry . In the northeast you can also see the Piz Kesch , the Piz Vadret and the Silvretta group with the Großlitzner , the Fluchthorn and the Piz Linard in the Lower Engadine , the Piz Quattervals in the Swiss National Park , the Sesvenna group with the Piz Sesvenna and the Ötztal Alps with the Weißkugel and see the Similaun . In the southeast you can see the Umbrail group with the Piz Schumbraida and the Piz Murtaröl , the Ortler group with the Ortler , the Königsspitze and the Punta San Matteo and the Livigno Alps with the Piz Paradisin (Pizzo Paradisino) and in the south the Bernina group . In the southwest there is a clear view of the Bergell Alps with the Pizzo Cengalo . The four thousand meter peaks that can be seen are Piz Bernina , La Spedla and the Aletschhorn (Bernese Alps). The view extends to four countries (Switzerland, Italy , Austria and Liechtenstein ). The most distant visible peak at over 139 kilometers is the Aletschhorn.
