The district of Frankfurt was a district in the Wiesbaden administrative district of the Prussian province of Hesse-Nassau , which existed from 1886 to 1910. Its entire area today belongs to the independent city of Frankfurt am Main .
geography
The district bordered, apart from the eponymous city, in the west on the district of Höchst and the Obertaunus district , all of which also belonged to the Wiesbaden administrative district. The neighbor to the east was the district of Hanau in the administrative district of Kassel . In the north, the district bordered the Hessian province of Upper Hesse . Two communities were on the left bank of the Main, southwest and southeast of Frankfurt , the rest on the northern edge of the city.
history
The district of Frankfurt a. M. was established on April 1, 1886 as part of a regional reform in the province of Hessen-Nassau . It was assigned to the Wiesbaden administrative district and was composed of
- the municipalities of Bonames , Hausen , Niederrad , Niederursel (Frankfurt part) , Niederursel (Hessian part) and Oberrad from the urban district of Frankfurt a. M.
- the place Rödelheim and the community Heddernheim from the dissolved Mainkreis and
- the city of Bockenheim and the communities Berkersheim , Eckenheim , Eschersheim , Ginnheim , Praunheim , Preungesheim and Seckbach , which until then the county Hanau in Kassel belonged.
The district council of the district had its seat in the then town hall of Bockenheim, built in 1869.
On March 1, 1899, the two parts of Niederursels were merged into one municipality.
All cities and municipalities in the district were incorporated into Frankfurt in three steps:
- On April 1, 1895 Bockenheim
- On July 1, 1900 Niederrad, Oberrad and Seckbach
- On April 1, 1910 the remaining eleven communities
The circle was dissolved on the latter date.
