The constituency of St. Pölten (constituency 15) is an electoral district in Lower Austria that includes the city of St. Pölten and the political district of Sankt Pölten-Land . In the state elections in 2008 , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) emerged as the strongest party with 49.39%. Of the five basic mandates to be awarded, two were assigned to the ÖVP, while the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) received one.
history
Lower Austria was divided into four constituencies until 1992, with St. Pölten and the St. Pölten-Land district belonging to the district electoral district above the Vienna Woods . With the state election order in 1992, the number of constituencies was increased to 21 and the city of St. Pölten and the district of St. Pölten-Land merged into their own constituency. Since the creation of the constituency, the ÖVP has always achieved a majority in the constituency. Of the five basic mandates to be awarded in 1993, two mandates each belonged to the ÖVP and the SPÖ; since the state elections in 1998, the ÖVP has had two and the SPÖ has one.
