history
Lower Austria was divided into four electoral districts until 1992, with the Horn district belonging to the district electoral district above Manhartsberg . With the state election order of 1992, the number of constituencies was increased to 21 and the Horn district was raised to its own constituency.
Since the creation of the constituency, the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) has achieved an absolute majority in every state election in the constituency of Horn, with the result of the People's Party fluctuating between 58 and 64%. The ÖVP achieved its best result so far in the state elections in 2008 with 67.3%. In the last state election in 2013, the ÖVP achieved 64.1%. With this, the ÖVP also lost its basic mandate, which it had first acquired in the 2003 election and defended in 2008.
The Social Democratic Party of Lower Austria (SPÖ) took second place in every state election in the constituency of Horn, achieving its best result in 1993 with 24.0%. After the SPÖ had reached 21.7 and 22.6% respectively between 1998 and 2003, it dropped to 18.1% in 2008. She also lost over 2% in the 2013 state elections, which was her worst result in the constituency to date with 15.6%.
The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) have so far been able to take third place in four of the five elections in the constituency of Horn, with their best result in 1998 with 14.2%. As a result, however, it fell to 5.2% in the course of the Peter Rosenstingl affair and ended up just ahead of the Greens in 2003. After the FPÖ was able to increase slightly to 6.4% in 2008, it was also able to increase in 2013 to 7.4%.
The Greens - The Green Alternative (GRÜNE) were able to increase slowly but gradually from 2.1 to 5.8% between 1993 and 2013. In 2013, however, the Greens fell back to fifth place when the Stronach team (FRANK and TS) competed. The Stronach team, on the other hand, was able to achieve 6.7% straight away when they ran for the first time in the constituency of Horn and thus advanced to third place among the candidate parties.
