The Hollabrunn constituency (constituency 6) is a constituency in Lower Austria that includes the political district of Hollabrunn . In the state elections in 2013 , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) emerged as the strongest party with 58.1%, whereby the ÖVP was also the only one of the candidate parties to win one of the two basic mandates in the constituency.

history

Lower Austria was divided into four constituencies until 1992, with the Hollabrunn district belonging to the district under the Manhartsberg . With the state election regulations in 1992, the number of constituencies was increased to 21 and the Hollabrunn district was raised to its own constituency.

Since the creation of the constituency, the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) has achieved an absolute majority in every state election in the Hollabrunn constituency, with the result of the People's Party fluctuating between 55 and 61%. The ÖVP achieved its best result so far in the state elections in 2004 with 61.1%. In the last state election in 2013, the ÖVP achieved 58.1%. In contrast to the other candidate parties, the ÖVP thus achieved one of the two basic mandates in each election.

The Social Democratic Party of Lower Austria (SPÖ) took second place in every state election in the constituency, achieving its best result in 2003 with 27.9%. Since then, the SPÖ has lost 4 and 3% respectively in the 2008 and 2013 elections, bringing the SPÖ to just 20.3% in 2013. The SPÖ was thus also just below the Lower Austrian provincial result.

The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) were able to take third place in three of the five elections in the Hollabrunn constituency, and in 1998 they achieved their best result with 14.0%. As a result, however, in the course of the Peter Rosenstingl affair, it fell to 4.6% and in 2003 came fourth behind the Greens. After the FPÖ was able to increase again to 5.5% in 2008, it fell back to fourth place in 2013 with 7.0%.

The Greens - The Green Alternative were able to increase slowly but gradually from 1.9 to 5.3% between 1993 and 2013, whereby they achieved third place once in 2003 due to the weakness of the FPÖ. In 2013, however, the Greens fell back to fifth place when the Stronach team (FRANK and TS) competed. The Stronach team, on the other hand, was able to achieve 7.9% straight away when it ran for the first time and thus advanced to third place among the candidate parties.
