The constituency of Lilienfeld (constituency 10) is a constituency in Lower Austria that includes the political district of Lilienfeld . In the 2013 state elections , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) emerged as the strongest party with 49.1%, with none of the candidate parties winning the basic mandate in the constituency.

history

Lower Austria was divided into four constituencies until 1992, with the Lilienfeld district belonging to the district of the district above the Vienna Woods . With the state election order of 1992, the number of constituencies was increased to 21 and the Lilienfeld district was raised to its own constituency.

Since the creation of the constituency, the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) has achieved a relative majority in four of the five state elections in the Lilienfeld constituency, with the result of the People's Party fluctuating between 39.5 and 51.2%. The ÖVP achieved its best result so far in the state elections in 2008 with 51.2%, when it was the first party to achieve an absolute majority of votes once. In the last state election in 2013, the ÖVP achieved 49.1%. Despite these results, the ÖVP, like all other candidate parties, got a direct mandate due to only one basic mandate in the constituency.

The Social Democratic Party of Lower Austria (SPÖ) took second place in every state election since 1998 in the Lilienfeld constituency, and in 1993 it became the party with the highest number of votes. In contrast, it achieved its best result in 2003 with 41.2%, previously it had come to 40.2 and 38.3%. In 2008 the SPÖ dropped to 32.2, although it also lost 5% in the 2013 state elections. As a result, the SPÖ achieved its worst result in the constituency to date with 27.4 in 2013, although its result here was still well above the national average.

The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) was able to take third place in three of the five elections in the constituency of Lilienfeld, and in 1998 it achieved its best result to date with 14.7%. As a result, however, in the course of the Peter Rosenstingl affair, it fell to 4.3% and in 2003 came fourth behind the Greens. After the FPÖ was able to increase again to 9.6% in 2008, its share of the vote fell again to 7.7% in 2013.

The Greens - The Green Alternative (GREEN) were able to increase slowly but successively from 2.8 to 5.9% between 1993 and 2013. In 2003, due to the weakness of the FPÖ, they briefly took third place. In 2013, however, the Greens fell back to fifth place when the Stronach team (FRANK and TS) took on. The Stronach team, on the other hand, was able to achieve 8.9% straight away when they ran for the first time in the Lilienfeld constituency and thus advanced to third place among the candidate parties.
