history
Lower Austria was divided into four electoral districts until 1992, with the Vienna-Umgebung district belonging to the district of the district under the Vienna Woods . With the state election regulations in 1992, the number of constituencies was increased to 21 and the Vienna-Umgebung district was raised to a separate constituency. After the creation of the constituency, the SPÖ initially achieved a relative majority in the 1993 state elections , but in 1998 the SPÖ was replaced as the strongest party by the ÖVP. Since then, the ÖVP has always achieved a relative majority. Originally, three basic mandates were awarded in the constituency Vienna-Umgebung, whereby the ÖVP and the SPÖ each achieved one basic mandate. After the number of basic mandates had been increased to four in 2002 due to the strong population growth, the ÖVP and SPÖ each again achieved one mandate in the state elections in 2003 , in the state elections in 2008 the ÖVP was able to book two mandates, the SPÖ again held its mandate.
With the dissolution of the Vienna-Umgebung district on December 31, 2016, the Vienna-Environment electoral district was also dissolved.
