The Zwettl constituency (constituency 20, until the dissolution of the Vienna-Umgebung district on January 1, 2017, constituency 21) is an electoral district in Lower Austria that includes the political district of Zwettl . In the state elections in 2008 , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) emerged as the strongest party with 69.96%. Of the maximum of two basic mandates to be awarded, the ÖVP was able to book one basic mandate for itself, none of the other parties achieved a basic mandate.

history

Lower Austria was divided into four electoral districts until 1992, with the Zwettl district belonging to the district electoral district above Manhartsberg . With the state election regulations in 1992, the number of constituencies was increased to 21 and the Zwettl district raised to its own constituency. Since the creation of the constituency, the ÖVP has achieved an absolute majority in every election and has always achieved one of the two possible basic mandates.
