history
Lower Austria was divided into four constituencies until 1992, with the Wiener Neustadt district belonging to the district of the district under the Vienna Woods . With the state election order of 1992, the number of constituencies was increased to 21 and the city of Wiener Neustadt was combined with the Wiener Neustadt-Land district to form one constituency. After the creation of the constituency, the SPÖ still achieved a relative majority in the constituency in 1993, but the ÖVP succeeded in gaining a relative majority in the 1998 state elections. With the state elections in 2008 she achieved an absolute majority. Of the four mandates to be awarded, the SPÖ and ÖVP were able to book one mandate each for themselves in the state elections in 1993 and 1998; since 2003 the ÖVP has had two mandates, the SPÖ one basic mandate.
