The constituency of Baden (constituency 2) comprises the political district of Baden in Lower Austria . In the state elections in 2013 , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) emerged as the strongest party in this constituency with 42.9%. In addition to the ÖVP, which achieved one of the four possible basic mandates in the electoral district, the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) also achieved a basic mandate .
history
Lower Austria was divided into four electoral districts until 1992, with the Baden district belonging to the district of the district under the Vienna Woods . With the state election regulations in 1992, the number of constituencies was increased to 21 and the Baden district was raised to its own constituency.
Since the constituency was created, the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) has achieved a relative majority in three out of five elections. While the ÖVP was still clearly behind the SPÖ in 1993 and 1998 with 33 and 34%, respectively, it achieved first place in 2003 with 45.7%. As a result, the ÖVP was clearly ranked as the first with 47.2 and 42.9% respectively Establish the party with the strongest vote in the constituency. In the five state elections, the ÖVP always achieved at least one basic mandate, in the 2003 and 2008 elections it was even able to achieve two basic mandates.
The Social Democratic Party of Lower Austria (SPÖ) always achieved above-average results in regional elections in the Baden electoral district compared to the national average, with the party with the highest number of votes in 1993 and 1998. With 41.5% it came in 1993 on its best result so far, as a result it lost almost successively votes. Heavy losses in the state elections in 2008 and 2013 caused the SPÖ to drop to just 22.6%, but the SPÖ was able to achieve a basic mandate, just as it did in the previous elections. Although the SPÖ always achieved an above-average result in the constituency, it lost almost half of its share of the vote in 20 years.
The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) has not been able to achieve a basic mandate in any election in the constituency of Amstetten. It came in third place three times in the five state elections, and in 1998 it achieved its best result with 17.3%. As a result, however, in the course of the Peter Rosenstingl affair, it fell to 5.0% and ended up in fourth place behind the Greens. After the FPÖ was able to increase again to 12.8% in 2008, it even fell back to fifth place in 2013 with 8.9%.
The Greens - The Green Alternative were able to increase almost successively between 1993 and 2013 from 2.7 to 9.4%, whereby in 2003 they were able to take 3rd place for a short time due to the weakness of the FPÖ. In 2013 the Greens defeated the FPÖ again, but only came fourth after the Stronach team (FRANK and TS), despite their own votes. The Stronach team, on the other hand, was able to achieve 14.4% straight away when it ran for the first time and thus advanced to third place among the candidate parties. While the Greens achieved their fourth-best result in the constituency of Baden in 2013 compared to the other constituencies, the Stronach team in Baden achieved the best result of all constituencies.
