Reviews
Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on April 16, 1999 that the comedy was "strange", "sentimental" and "funny". He praised the performances by Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, which would be very convincing. The characters of Rayford Gibson and Claude Banks can be liked.
Desson Howe commended the script and direction in the Washington Post April 16, 1999.
The lexicon of international films judged: “Superficial and uninspired comedy that reveals the tragic dimensions and socially critical approaches of the subject to the clichés of buddy movies and prison films. It is only thanks to the excellent make-up artist that the two main actors manage to arouse sympathy for a few moments. "
