Lilo & Stitch is an animated series of the Walt Disney Company from director Robert Gannaway , produced from 2003 to 2005 in the United States . It is based on the cartoon Lilo & Stitch . In 2008 a Japanese offshoot was produced, Yuna & Stitch , in which Stitch lives on the Japanese Ryūkyū Islands without Lilo .

action

After ex-captain Gantu accidentally emptied the container with Jamba's illegal experiments over Hawaii, all 623 experiments were distributed across the island. In almost every episode, Lilo and Stitch have to capture one of the experiments to prevent it from causing damage. You have to be careful to be faster than your enemy Gantu, who is conducting the experiments on the evil Dr. Hans van Hamsterdam wants to send. The experiments are lying around as capsules (small colored balls) somewhere on the island. If they come into contact with water, they are activated, that is, they come to life and begin to program and thus cause chaos. After capturing an experiment, Lilo and Stitch try to find a place where the special ability of the experiment can be used without creating chaos. Often the experiments can even be useful. During the second season there were a total of four individual crossover episodes in which characters from the Disney series Kim Possible , American Dragon , Große Pause and Die Prouds appeared.

characters

Lilo Pelekai
In addition to Stitch , the Hawaiian girl is the main character in the series. Lilo lost her parents shortly before her fifth birthday. Her older sister Nani has been looking after her ever since. The girls of the same age who attend the same hula dance group as Lilo tease her constantly and call her Spinnlo because she is interested in mummies, monsters and aliens, while the others spend their free time with dolls. Lilo's best friend is the illegal genetic experiment Stitch, with whom she has had a close friendship since the movie.
Stitch (Experiment 626)
is the genetic experiment 626 of the alien scientist Jamba Jookiba . It is more intelligent than a supercomputer, bulletproof, fireproof and can lift objects that are 3000 times heavier than it is. He has four arms, most of which he draws in two to be mistaken for a dog . Although it is dark blue, it usually succeeds. He was adopted by Lilo Pelekai and she has been his best friend ever since. Its only weakness is the water as it cannot swim and it drowns in the water. Stitch can speak rudimentary and names other experiments he meets brother .
Nani Pelekai
is Lilo's big sister and has been looking after her since her parents passed away. In the film Lilo & Stitch , she got into trouble with Mr. Cobra Bobo from the youth welfare office because Lilo said she was often alone. She often despairs that her little sister and Stitch often cause huge problems on the island. Nani first works in a surf shop on the beach, where she rents out surf equipment. Later she got a job in a hotel.
Dr. Jamba Jookiba
The four-eyed, dark pink and black colored, but otherwise looking similar to an (overweight) person, describes himself as a devilish genius. Jamba was actually the chief scientist of the Federation for Galactic Defense. He invented 627 illegal, diabolical experiments designed and programmed to wreak havoc in the past. Now he has changed his mind and helps Lilo and Stitch to catch the experiments. In addition, Jamba was for many years a member of the EGO ( e xtraterristrische G anoven- O rganization), he was, however, terminated in because he had created the 110 percent good experiment 262nd He uses dark sunglasses and a hat as camouflage. Lilo usually calls Jamba "Uncle Jamba", although he usually pretends to be Lilo's uncle. In the pilot, Gantu mentioned that Jamba came from the planet Quelta Quan. He has a Russian accent and speaks broken German and English. Jamba is one of the best scientists in the entire galaxy.
Agent Wendy Pliiklii
The one-eyed, three-legged, pale yellow alien with a feeler on his head does the housework for Lilo and Nani and takes care of Lilo . He likes to wear women's clothes and sometimes a wig to camouflage himself, and Lilo calls him "Aunt Pliiklii". He is an honorary member of many clubs in Hawaii, is knowledgeable about medical matters and even almost became dominoes world champion once . Pliiklii has known Jamba the longest of all beings on the island. In the episode "Detekto" it was mentioned that Pliiklii comes from the planet Plongona. Pliiklii is usually very cheerful and cooks for Lilo and Stitch. Pliiklii has two siblings and a mother. He often felt dwarfed as his sister was the chairman of an entire galaxy. His brother, however, said he didn't like Pliiklii. With "Detekto", however, Pliiklii finds out how much he really means to his family.
Captain Gantu
Resembling a whale , the huge former spaceship captain is the constant opponent of Lilo and Stitch when it comes to capturing experiments. He tries to catch them before them and send them to his new "boss", Hans van Hamsterdam . To help him do this, he has Experiment 625, a yellow creature who , apart from the color, looks very similar to Stitch . He blames Stitch for getting fired from the Federation. 625 is his only known friend. He was supposed to help him catch the experiments, but 625 has no interest in this job, he's programmed to make sandwiches and eat them, which he does with pleasure. In fact, Gantu was the Federation's highest military leader, but was suspended because the prisoner Stitch escaped him. Since then he has been seeking revenge and making life difficult for Lilo and Stitch. Gantu comes from the eighth planet of the Kelkron solar system (hereinafter referred to as "Richter").
Experiment 625 (roast beef)
Like Stitch, the dog-like, yellowish creature is an experiment by Jamba and even Stitch's closest relative. It is less powerful and intelligent than Stitch, but it has a far better and more understandable language than Stitch. Experiment 625 was actually activated by Gantu to torture Jamba. However, when it turns out that it is a complete slacker and only specializes in making tasty sandwiches, Gantu takes it in to keep it busy as a helper. In the film Leroy & Stitch , 625 (in the English version it had its own name much earlier, namely "Reuben") was renamed "Roast Beef".
Dr. (Rupert) Hans van Hamsterdam
This hamster-like villain wants to achieve world domination with the help of Jamba's experiments and therefore lets Gantu capture her. He was once the financial backer of Jamba's genetic experiments. Because he had exploited Jamba more and more, Jamba separated from him and created the first experiment that was not created together: 626 aka Stitch. Van Hamsterdam has hired Captain Gantu to steal all of Jamba's experiments and transport them to him. Since the pilot of the series, Van Hamsterdam has been stuck in a prison from which he rarely manages to escape. Failures in the hunt for experiments make him very angry, so that he often describes Gantu as incompetent. In an early episode of the series it is revealed that Van Hamsterdam has two first names, but that he never uses “Rupert” out of shame. In the German dubbing, he speaks with a Dutch accent.
Mertle Edmonds
Mertle is a red-haired girl who is in hula school with Lilo. Mertle always calls Lilo Spinnlo and Stitch calls her the freak of dog. She is spoiled and conceited and does not shy away from meanness. She doesn't believe in aliens. It is repeatedly transformed, burned or pursued by experiments. One day, your whole house will be destroyed by an experiment. Mertle is an unsympathetic and also vicious girl.
Elena, Yuki and Teresa
Myrtle's friends and Lilo's classmates at Hula school . They mostly stay in the background and accept Myrtle as a leader or a role model. When Myrtle makes a nasty remark to Lilo, they repeatedly answer in unison with "Exactly". They are mostly shown as lousy and mean as they support Myrtle in pretty much everything.
Victoria
Victoria is Lilo's new friend. She actually comes from another part of the USA . She likes Lilo and Stitch and refuses to make fun of Lilo like Mertle and her friends. She is a loving, albeit wild, girl who would always stand behind Lilo. It occurs in episodes in which experiments 355, 020, 277 and 267 are presented.
David Kawena
David is a good surfer and Nani's boyfriend.
Mrs. Lynn Hasagawa
She has a fruit stand and has very poor hearing. Many experiments live with her, which she sees as "cats".

Differences between the film and the series

  • The music from the film to the series is very different. While attention was paid to typical Hawaiian music in the film, typical American music appears more and more in the series.
  • Jamba's motto, "Fight violence with violence", is rarely used in the series.
  • Gantu is 8 meters tall in the film. In the series, however, he is only 6 meters tall.
  • In the film, Lilo's swimsuit is red-orange, but in the series they are orange-red (vice versa).
  • Mertle (or Jenny) is more tolerant of Lilo in the film, and does not always abuse her with " spinner " or "spinster".
  • Captain Gantu is much more brutal in the movie than in the series.
  • The series deals less with Lilo and Stitch's social and family problems than the film. Often it is even omitted entirely.
  • Although Stitch speaks perfect German (or English) at the end of the film, he speaks a gibberish of Hawaiian , English and German in the series .
  • Pliiklii's contacts with his mother are shown more in the film and Pliiklii seems less stressful.
  • In the film Nani is voiced by Thomas Petruo's daughter Vanessa , while in the series Anna Carlsson , who also speaks Kim Possible in the series of the same name .
