Lincolnville is located in southeast Waldo County on Penobscot Bay in the Atlantic Ocean and borders Knox County . Several lakes are located in the area, the largest being Megunticook Lake in the south, Pitcher Pond in the north and centrally located Coleman Pond . The surface is slightly hilly, the 367 m high Megunticook Mountain is the highest point in the area.

history
The Lincolnville area was part of the Ducktrap and Canaan Plantations. Lincolnville was organized as a Town on June 23, 1802. John Studley and a Mr. Wilson established a farm in 1774 and were the first settlers. At the beginning of the 19th century there were six wood mills, a grain mill, a tannery and several limestone and granite quarries in the town. Small quantities of tinware, boots, shoes and carriages were also produced.

The US Highway 1 runs north to south through the eastern part of the Town parallel to the shore of the North Penobscot Bay . The Maine State Route 52 runs north-south through the area. It is crossed by Maine State Route 173 .
Public facilities
There are no medical facilities in Lincolnville. The closest are in Camden and Belfast.
In Lincolnville, the Lincolnville Community Library is located in a former, renovated 1-room schoolhouse from 1849. After the renovation and relocation of the building, the library opened in the building on February 1, 2014. The building is owned by the Lincolnville Historical Society. An extension houses the librarian's study and a bathroom. More wooden sheds built by women on the site house the historical exhibits of the Jackie Watts Open Air Museum .
