history

The Lincolnville area was part of the Ducktrap and Canaan Plantations. Lincolnville was organized as a Town on June 23, 1802. John Studley and a Mr. Wilson established a farm in 1774 and were the first settlers. At the beginning of the 19th century there were six wood mills, a grain mill, a tannery and several limestone and granite quarries in the town. Small quantities of tinware, boots, shoes and carriages were also produced.

There are no medical facilities in Lincolnville. The closest are in Camden and Belfast.

In Lincolnville, the Lincolnville Community Library is located in a former, renovated 1-room schoolhouse from 1849.
