Linley Marthe

Linley Marthe (born August 31, 1972 in Mauritius ) is a Mauritian jazz bassist .

In Mauritius, Marthe taught himself the bass guitar , double bass and piano as an autodidact . He worked as a musician and music producer and, after working with François Jeanneau, moved to Paris in 1993 , where he underwent academic training and is still alive today.

Marthe is considered to be one of the most original and virtuoso electric bass players. He first played in the African Project by Philippe Sellam / Gilles Renne (CD “Traditional Odyssey”, 1996) and from 2003 worked for Joe Zawinul (CD “Vienna nights”). He also played with Cheb Mami , Mino Cinelu , Dave Liebman , Andy Emler , Trilok Gurtu , Didier Lockwood , Richard Galliano , Lionel & Stéphane Belmondo , Sylvain Beuf , Flavio Boltro , Jean-Pierre Como , Laurent Coq , Christian Escoudé , Denis Leloup , Nguyên Lê , Michel Portal , Baptiste Trotignon , Louis Winsberg , Francis Lassus , Kadero Ray, Chander Sardjoe and Hans Lüdemann .

He has also been involved in recordings by Soriba Kouyaté , Karim Ziad , Pierre Akendengue, Jerry Léonide , Grégory Privat and Hadrien Feraud .
