List of stumbling blocks in Goldbach (Lower Franconia)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list of stumbling blocks in Goldbach contains the stumbling blocks that were laid by Gunter Demnig in Markt Goldbach , Lower Franconia , as part of the art project of the same name . They are intended to commemorate the victims of National Socialism who lived and worked in Goldbach. In the run-up to the 800-year celebrations of Goldbach, the market town council decided to lay stumbling blocks in memory of the murdered Jewish fellow citizens, a separate memorial stone for each individual. The first fifteen stumbling blocks in Goldbach were laid in four places by Gunter Demnig personally on February 15, 2018. More stones for the 32 Jewish fellow citizens are to follow.

A brass plaque is anchored on the top of the concrete cuboid with an edge length of ten centimeters, which provides information about the names, year of birth and fate of the people who are to be remembered. The stones are embedded in the sidewalk in front of the former homes of the victims of the National Socialist tyranny.
