List of Vice Chancellors of the Holy Roman Church
Vice Chancellor of the Holy Roman Church was the official title of the head of the Apostolic Chancellery ( Papal Chancellery ). Since Pope Clement VII , the office was connected with the title of Cardinal Priest of San Lorenzo in Damaso . The designation as cancellarius has been documented since 1005, before the head of the Apostolic Chancellery held the title bibliothecarius . The previous office was that of primicerius notariorum , which has been documented since the 4th century.
