List of profaned churches in the diocese of Aachen

This list of profaned churches in the Diocese of Aachen lists the previously profaned and closed churches in the Diocese of Aachen . When a Catholic church building is closed, a profanation service is celebrated, which serves as a place of worship to say goodbye to the building. With the profanation the church is blessed. The list also shows the different options for conversion after a church has been closed .

	St. Martin	Aachen	2005		Built in 1953/54, sold to Evangelical Vineyard Church in Aachen in 2005
	St. Paul	Aachen	2010	Aachen center	Conversion to the diocesan archive of the Diocese of Aachen.
	Christ our peace	Aachen Forest	20th June 2019	Aachen-Forst / Brand	The church, built between 1970 and 1971 in the new Driescher Hof development area, is to be demolished due to its dilapidation.
	St. Matthew	Aldenhoven pattern	1989 (at the latest)	Aldenhoven	The Patterner Church, like the entire village, had to give way to the future opencast mine . On July 12, 1990, the neo-Gothic church was demolished. As a replacement, the St. Matthew Chapel was inaugurated on June 27, 1992 in Neu-Pattern.

	St. Peter Julian	Düren	2003	Düren center	Demolition in June 2003, 2005 construction of a retirement home on the property.

	St. Martinus	Erkelenz- Borschemich	23 Nov 2014	Erkelenz	The church had to give way to the expansion of the Garzweiler opencast mine . The demolition took place in February 2016. In May 2015 a new chapel was completed as a replacement in Neu-Borschemich .
	St. Lambertus	Erkelenz- Immerath	Oct 13, 2013	Erkelenz	The church was demolished on January 8th and 9th 2018 and, like the entire village of Immerath, had to give way to the Garzweiler opencast mine . In the resettlement place Immerath (new) a much smaller chapel was built as a replacement.
	Heart of jesus	Eschweiler	20th June 2015	Eschweiler-Mitte	Built in 1938/39, it is currently empty.
	St. Michael	Eschweiler	June 13, 2015	Eschweiler-Mitte	Is currently empty.
	St. New Years Eve	Eschweiler wages	Dec 17, 1972	Eschweiler	Like the entire village of Lohn, the church had to give way to the opencast mine in the future . On December 11, 1973 the building was blown up. A new church was built to replace the resettlement site in Neu-Lohn .
	St. Joseph	Geilenkirchen- Bauchem	16 Aug 2015	Hückelhoven	Built in 1974, demolished in spring 2018.
	St. Barbara	Hückelhoven	25 Sep 2016	Hückelhoven	Built in 1933, it is currently empty.
	House of Encounters (HdB)	Hückelhoven- Ratheim	Feb 20, 2016	Hückelhoven	The HdB, built in 1972 as the second church building in Ratheim, could no longer be maintained as a result of the " Church Real Estate Management " (KIM) and declining visitor numbers. Subsequent use as refugee accommodation by the city of Hückelhoven.
	St. Clement	In the	1999 (approx.)	In the	Like the entire village of Inden, the church had to give way to the Inden opencast mine . After 2001 the church was demolished. A new one was built in the Inden / Altdorf resettlement site to replace the two churches in Inden and Altdorf.
	St. Pancras	Inden- Altdorf	1999 (approx.)	In the	Like the entire village of Altdorf, the church had to give way to the Inden opencast mine . After 2001 the church was demolished. A new one was built in the Inden / Altdorf resettlement site to replace the two churches in Inden and Altdorf.
	St. Mary Immaculate Conception	Inden Pier	May 18, 2008	In the	Like the entire village of Pier, the church had to give way to the Inden opencast mine . In February 2012 the building was demolished.
	St. Pancras	Juchen- Garzweiler	1988 (circa)	Juchen	Like the entire village of Garzweiler, the church had to give way to the Garzweiler opencast mine . The demolition was completed in 1989. As a replacement, a new, smaller church was built at the Garzweiler resettlement site.
	St. Simon and Jude Thaddaeus	Juchen- Otzenrath	June 18, 2006	Juchen	Like the entire village of Otzenrath, the church had to give way to the Garzweiler opencast mine . The demolition took place from March 8th to March 12th, 2007. As a replacement, a new, smaller church was built at the Neu-Otzenrath resettlement site.
	Holy Spirit Chapel	Kempen			from 2005 to 2012 re-use by a bookstore
	St. Lambertus	Merzenich- Morschenich	June 15, 2019	Merzenich / Niederzier	The church and the village of Morschenich should give way to the Hambach opencast mine and be demolished. However, since Morschenich is no longer to be dredged according to current plans, the future of the church building is uncertain.
	St. Elisabeth	Mönchengladbach- Eicken	2009		Built in 1933/34, since 2009 re-use as "Church of the Holy Sepulcher" ( columbarium )
	St. Peter	Mönchengladbach- Waldhausen	June 30, 2007		A climbing park has been located in the former church since 2010.
	Heart of jesus	Mönchengladbach- Pesch	Apr 21, 2007		Apartments were built into the former church between 2010 and 2011.
	St. Andreas and Matthias	Niederzier- Lich-Steinstrasse	1985 (at the latest)		Like the entire village of Lich-Steinstrasse, the church had to give way to the Hambach opencast mine . The demolition was completed in 1988. As a replacement, a new church was built at the Jülich-Lich-Steinstrasse resettlement site.
	St. Joseph	Viersen- Rintgen	2010		Built 1889–91, since 2012 re-use as "Church of the Holy Sepulcher" ( columbarium )
