St. Peter Julian was a Roman Catholic branch and monastery church in Düren , North Rhine-Westphalia , built from 1964 to 1965 . She was a monastery of the Blessed Sacrament connected and 1972-2000 parish church of the same parish . After the profanation , the church and monastery were demolished in 2003 in order to rebuild the property.

history

Since July 1, 1920, there was a makeshift settlement of the Eucharist in Düren in the upper Kölnstrasse . On April 8, 1962, it was announced that the monastery should finally get a new church . Linked to this was the promise of the bishop of Aachen , Johannes Pohlschneider, that the church would have its own pastoral care district.

The architect W. Vogt created the first draft of the church. This design was revised by the Düren architect Helmut Lüttgen. Construction began on June 29, 1964, the groundbreaking ceremony took place on 18 November 1964. On 21 December 1965, the church was benediziert . Parts of the areas of the other two inner-city parishes St. Anna and St. Marien were ceded, which from December 28, 1965 formed the Vicarie St. Peter Julian. Pastoral work was done by two priests of the Eucharist. The consecration by Bishop Johannes Pohlschneider in honor of Saint Pierre Julien Eymard took place on October 30, 1966. On January 1, 1972, the Vicarie became an independent parish.

The organ of the Wilbrand organ building company from Übach-Palenberg was consecrated on October 10, 1976. It has 18 registers , divided into two manuals and pedals with a total of 1364 pipes. It cost 130,000 DM. In December 1985 a new baptismal font was erected. On February 17, 1986, a new way of the cross was added.

On December 1, 2000 the parish was dissolved and the parish of St. Anna was added.

Weekday church

The Order of the Cellites of St. Gertrude bought the land with the monastery and the church. In June 2003 all buildings were demolished. In popular parlance, the church was called little monastery until the end .

On May 1st, 2005 the inauguration of a new monastery with an old people's home took place there. The organ was bought by the Catholic parish in the Düren green belt and installed there again by the builder company Wilbrand.
