First documentary mention
The following German cities were founded in the 17th century .
- 1607 Neuhaus am Rennweg , founded as a result of the construction of a glassworks
- 1617 Glückstadt
- 1621 Friedrichstadt
- 1654 Johanngeorgenstadt , founded as an exile town
- 1670 Neu-Salza, today Neusalza-Spremberg , developed into an exile town, electoral Saxon city privilege from January 12th
- 1686 Neustadt Erlangen, founded as an independent Huguenot town, Christian-Erlang since 1701, merging with the old town to form today's Erlangen in 1812
- 1699 Bad Karlshafen , founded as the starting point for a canal going off the Weser
- 1699 Neu-Isenburg , founded as a Huguenot town

- 1665 Schirgiswalde , urk. First mentioned in 1376, since January 1, 2011 in association with Kirschau and Crostau Stadt Schirgiswalde-Kirschau
- 1669 Wilthen , city charter granted by Elector Johann Georg II , first documented mention in 1222
