The following German cities were founded in the 19th century :
- 1810 Neu-Ulm (town charter 1869)
- 1810 Putbus , Rügen Island, founded by Wilhelm Malte I , Prince of Putbus, town charter since 1960
- 1811 Friedrichshafen , the city of Buchhorn merges with the village and monastery of Hofen
- 1827 Bremerhaven (city rights 1851)
- 1853 Ludwigshafen am Rhein (town charter 1859)
- 1856 Wilhelmshaven (town charter 1873)
