Location of Logumer Vorwerk in the city of Emden

Logumer Vorwerk in 1972 along with Wybelsum to Emden incorporated. Before it belonged to the north district . The village district, the smallest of Emden in terms of population with 0.5 percent of the total population, is named after a place called Logum that was lost during a storm surge. This was in the range of today's dollar . Logumer Vorwerk had 227 inhabitants on December 31, 2010.

history

As for many other marshland villages in East Friesland (for example in the Krummhörn ) it can be stated for Logumer Vorwerk that the number of inhabitants has not changed significantly since the 19th century until today. In 1823 there were 158 inhabitants in Logumer Vorwerk. Logumer Vorwerk had a population of 218 as of September 30, 2012. This makes Logumer Vorwerk the second smallest in the Emden district after Marienwehr . Of the 227 inhabitants, only two were foreigners, which corresponds to a share of 0.9 percent. The proportion of foreigners is therefore the smallest in absolute terms and the second smallest in terms of percentage (after Twixlum ) among all Emden districts. The comparison rate for the city is 5.1 percent.

Exactly half of the population (109) belong to the Reformed Church . 29 inhabitants are Lutheran (13.3 percent), the Catholic Church has 19 inhabitants (8.7 percent). The remaining 61 inhabitants (28 percent) are either non-denominational or belong to another religious denomination. Together, the Christians of the two large Protestant churches make up 63.3 percent of the population.

26.6 percent of the residents (58 people) are older than 65 years, which clearly exceeds the urban average of exactly 20 percent. The age cohort of up to 19-year-olds includes 35 people, i.e. 16 percent of the population. In the age group between 19 and 24 years there are another ten people, so that the number of all people up to 24 years is 45 (or 20.6 percent). The comparative figures for the urban area are 18.5 percent (up to 19 years) and 25.6 percent (up to 24 years). Logumer Vorwerk also has a clearly below average number of younger people. Among other things, it is noticeable here that, in contrast to other parts of the city, in Logumer Vorwerk hardly any new houses or even new development areas have been built for years.

Like all of East Friesland - and Emden in particular - Logumer Vorwerk has been a stronghold of the SPD for decades. The SPD already had an absolute majority in the 1949 federal election . At that time it got more than 50 percent of the vote, while the CDU remained below ten percent. In the parliamentary elections in 1953 , the Social Democrats overtook the absolute majority in the general election in 1969 as well. The "Willy Brandt election" in 1972 brought the Social Democrats record results in East Friesland, which also applied to Logumer Vorwerk: the SPD received more than 70 percent of the valid votes cast, while the CDU won less than 20 percent.

On July 1, 1972, Logumer Vorwerk was incorporated into the city of Emden.

The Logum Vorwerker church was built in 1884. The previous church at the same location was abandoned due to its disrepair.
