Born in Cyprus, he came to Greece in 2005 to study biology at the University of Patras .
He was the winner of the first season of the Greek version of the talent show The X Factor (2008/2009). He then released an EP called Mazi , which went gold.
As the winner of the national preliminary decision in March 2011, he represented Greece with the ballad Watch my Dance (German: See my dance ) at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 . The track has - for Eurovision standards - an unusually odd rhythm . He was supported by the rapper Stereo Mike .
