Lower Grand Lagoon is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bay County in the US state of Florida with 3881 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Lower Grand Lagoon is located on the Gulf of Mexico and borders the city of Panama City Beach . The CDP is located about 10 km southwest of Panama City and about 170 km southwest of Tallahassee .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 3881 inhabitants were distributed among 6325 households, most of which are holiday homes used as second homes. The population density was 705.6 inh / km². 92.0% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.5% as African-Americans , 1.0% as Indians, and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 1.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.5% to several ethnic groups. 6.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 18.2% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 24.7% of all households. 49.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.01 people and the average family size was 2.60 people.

16.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 30.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 31.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 22.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 42 years. 51.5% of the population were male and 48.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 42,813, with 11.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.80% of the population, 3.52% spoke Spanish and 0.68% spoke German .
