Mexico Beach is a city in Bay County in the US state of Florida with 1072 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Mexico Beach is on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The city is located around 35 km southeast of Panama City and 150 km southwest of Tallahassee .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 1072 inhabitants at the time were distributed among 1852 households, most of which were holiday homes used as second homes. The population density was 315.3 inh / km². 93.1% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.9% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 0.7% as Asian Americans . 0.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.1% to several ethnic groups. 2.6% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 42.1% of all households lived in 13.1% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 56.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.90 people and the average family size was 2.43 people.
12.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 16.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 41.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 55 years. 48.5% of the population were male and 51.5% were female.
The median annual income was $ 46,853, with 15.1% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 98.96% of the population and 1.04% spoke Spanish .

On April 10, 2006, the offshore Vamar Shipwreck Site was entered on the National Register of Historic Places .

The city is crossed by US Highway 98 . The Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is located 75 km north-west of the city.

The crime rate in 2010 was 327 points (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There were four assaults, 28 break-ins, 35 thefts and one car theft.
