action
Vickram Jaisingh travels from Delhi to Bombay especially to become a Bollywood actor . He takes lessons at the Nand Kishore drama school and hopes to get into the film business through his friends Abhi and Sameer. There he meets Abhi's neighbor Sona, who plays in supporting roles and is also waiting for her big breakthrough. Instead, she has to come to terms with the fact that her film partner Nikki has landed a leading role with less talent. She only owes this to her mother Neena Walia, who was a famous actress in her younger years.
Nikki's debut film is directed by Ranjit Rolly and produced by his brother Romy Rolly. The main actor is currently the most sought-after star Zaffar Khan. But he doesn't feel comfortable in his role and jumps out to take part in Karan Johar's film. This gives Vickram the chance to play a leading role for the first time. While filming pays and he behaves differently towards her, she also believes in an affair between the two. From now on she stays away from him, who actually got the role thanks to her.
After filming in the mountains, the film crew returns to Bombay. And there is already hot discussion in the gossip columns about the affair of the two debutants. Vickram believes Sona is behind it because a friend of hers works in one of these magazines. The film hits the cinemas - and is promptly a super hit. Vickram also becomes a star overnight. At a party, he meets his idol Shah Rukh Khan , who gives him important advice: despite his fame, he should never forget the people who believed in him when he was nobody. Because of the bad conscience, he wants to reconcile with Sona. However, she does not want to be left back at the next opportunity. That's why she'd rather be content to be accepted in her small roles as an actress than to become a big superstar.

criticism
"Luck by Chance" (is) an amazingly mature film for a debut. It's way too long, has slow moments, falls apart towards the end and the solid music doesn't stay in the ear for long - but for Bollywood fans it is a pleasure, the Guddi for a new millennium , so to speak . He gives us stars by the running meter, he gives us insights into the lives of celebrities and tickles our knowledge of Bollywood's past and its relatives and other relationships. It entertains and makes you think, it makes you smile and empathize. And incidentally, he tells his likeable, thoroughly intelligent story in an exemplary way. (from molodezhnaja.ch)
