Rauman Lukko or simply Lukko is a Finnish ice hockey club from Rauma , which was founded in 1936 and plays in the Liiga . Lukko's team plays their home games in Kivikylän Areena .
history
The history of ice hockey in Rauma begins with the establishment of the Talolan Sisu sports community , which was founded in the 1920s to enable local wood industry employees and their children to participate in sports. Initially, this sports community offered football in summer and cross-country skiing in winter . Forerunners of today's ice hockey were added later, before today's club was founded in 1936.
Lukko won the Finnish ice hockey championship in 1963 . Further successes were the runner-up championships in 1961, 1966 and 1988, as well as third places in 1965, 1969, 1994, 1996 and 2011. Lukko also won the Finnish cup competition twice - in 1964 and 1969.
Since 2011 the club has also had a department for women's pesäpallo , when the women's team of Fera Rauma separated from the parent club and joined Lukko. The first team in the division plays in the top division of Finland, the Superpesis .
