Location of Lupitz in Saxony-Anhalt

Lupitz is a residential area of Kusey , a district of the town of Klötze in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village of Lupitz is located in the southeast of the district of Kusey, about six kilometers southwest of Klötze and north of the Drömling nature park and the EU bird sanctuary "Feldflur bei Kusey". To the south, Lupitz is bounded by the Kuseyer ditch, which flows to the west.

history

The first documentary mention of Lupitz comes from the year 1555 as Luptz from the sentence books of the Kurmärkisches Kammergericht. Wilhelm Zahn reports: During a border inspection in 1555, the pastor of Clötze indicated that the deserted village of Lubitz, which had previously been donated by the von Alvensleben family to a spiritual fief of the church in Clötze, has now been withdrawn by Gebhard von Alvensleben. Further mentions are 1598 desert dorff Lubitz , 1646 desert dorff Lübitz and 1804 Lubitz, Lupitz

In 1760 a colonists' village was established, around 1780 the Lubitzer Krug was named. 1789 lived in the colonist village 12 Kätner and Büdner , 3 house people or residents. In 1872 a good that cannot be circulated is mentioned. A manor Lupitz ( manor district ) was first mentioned in 1885 and the last time in 1900. It must have been united with the rural community of Lupitz before 1905.

Already in 1855 Albert Schultz-Lupitz bought the run down Gut Lupitz and over the decades successfully developed new methods to increase the fertility of the sandy soils. Today a street in Kusey is named after him.

During the land reform of 1946, 170 hectares were expropriated, of which 157.3 hectares were given to 36 settlers. In 1948 there were 37 buyers, including 3 new settlers.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, the community of Lubitz from the district of Salzwedel was incorporated into the community of Kusey in the district of Gardelegen . Lubitz thus became a residential area of Kusey, but not a district.
