Young talent competition (Giro d'Italia)
The junior competition of the Giro d'Italia has been held since 1976. All drivers who are 25 years old or younger are included in this ranking. The stand in the overall ranking is used to determine this.
The leader of the young ranking after a stage transmits on the next section of the cycling jersey Maglia Bianca (dt. White Jersey ).
The first winner of the junior competition at the 1977 Giro d'Italia was the Italian Alfio Vandi . The Ukrainian Vladimir Pulnikow and the Russian Pawel Tonkow were each able to decide twice for themselves. In 1994 Yevgeny Bersin managed to win the overall ranking for the first time. That was also the last time that the junior competition was held for the time being. For the Giro d'Italia 2007 this rating was reintroduced. De Intergiro rating has been abolished for it. At the 2014 Giro, the Colombian was the second driver to win both the junior and overall rankings.
Apart from Berzin and Quintana, the only drivers who were able to win the overall standings after winning the junior class were the Italians Roberto Visentini (1978 and 1986), Pawel Tonkow (1993 and 1996) and Nairo Quintana (2014) .
