The Main-Tauber-Fränkische Radachter (also in the spelling Main-Tauber-Fränkische Rad-Achter ) is a cycle route through the Main and Taubertal with a total distance of 552 kilometers. The wheel “eight” forms with a “west” and an “east ring” the shape of an “8” around Lauda-Königshofen .

history

The Main-Tauber-Franconian Radachter was designated as a cross-landscape bike tour in 1991. On July 3, 2016, the 25th anniversary was celebrated with a birthday bike tour from Freudenberg am Main to Wertheim for the “Schöpple” wine festival.

route

Profile and characteristics

The cyclist connects the first two cycle paths in Germany awarded 5 stars by the Allgemeine Deutsche Fahrrad-Club ( ADFC ) - the Main Cycle Path and the Taubertal Cycle Path - along the river landscapes of the Main and Tauber with numerous wine villages , palaces , castles and monasteries . The Gaubahn cycle path is also on the route. Most of the time, the cyclist leads over paved, car-free paths and is suitable for normal touring bikes. With the exception of the section through the Odenwald, the route has only slight inclines. The bike path is signposted. The landscape of the cycle path is characterized by the wooded Franconian and Tauber Franconian hill country. A stone bar landscape is typical on the sides of the Main and Taubertal valleys and its side valleys . There are extensive fruit and wine-growing areas in the valley lowlands.
