Manfred Kroke
Manfred Kroke (born October 18, 1941 , † June 13, 2013 ) was a German football goalkeeper . He played at Bayer 05 Uerdingen throughout his professional career and played 31 league games in the Bundesliga in the 1975/76 season .
Career
Kroke initially played for the Duisburger FV 08 association league , with whom he was Niederrheinmeister in 1961/62 and celebrated promotion to the 2nd division West . In the last round of the then second division in the West German regional association, 1962/63 , he experienced the local derbies against the Duisburger Spielverein and TuS Duisburg 48/99 . In 26 league games he was in the goal of the FV and took 15th place alongside other players such as Manfred Frankowski , Horst Klinkhammer and Kurt Nolden . From the 1963/64 season he played again with his club in the Association League Niederrhein . At the age of 29 he moved to Krefeld.
With the newcomer, he reached 7th place under coach Klaus Quinkert in 1971/72 in the second -rate regional football league West and had teammates such as Paul Hahn , Lothar Prehn , Horst Riege , Edmund Stieber , Hans Sondermann , Herbert Bayer , Ludwig Lurz , Josef Schneiders and Manfred Burgsmüller played all 34 league games. Uerdingen made his debut with goalkeeper Kroke in the Regionalliga on August 15, 1971 in a 0-0 away draw at Westfalia Herne. In the second and third regional league years , 1972/73 and 1973/74 , the team from the Grotenburg-Kampfbahn took third place and the tall goalkeeper with the long tentacles had only missed one association game in his 101 regional league appearances in three years. Striker Burgsmüller scored 80 goals in 101 league appearances for Bayer 05 during this period. Kroke and Uerdingen ended the second-rate regional league era on May 5, 1974 with a 2-0 home win against Alemannia Aachen. Now players such as Norbert Brinkmann , Peter Falter , Friedhelm Funkel and Wolfgang Lüttges were in the team of coach Quinkert. The team from Krefeld was thus qualified for the 2nd Bundesliga , which started in 1974/75 . Kroke remained the goalkeeper in this league.
In the debut year of the two-tier 2. Bundesliga, 1974/75 , "Kraken-Kroke" was the undisputed number 1 in the Uerdingen goal with 38 league appearances, the young Werner Vollack was substituted on twice in the round. Although striker Burgsmüller had joined Rot-Weiss Essen and only newcomer Hans-Jürgen Wloka from Borussia Mönchengladbach was able to bring in higher-class experience, Uerdingen won the runner-up in the North Season and was thus qualified for two relegation games against the southern runner-up FK Pirmasens to determine the third Bundesliga promoter . The two playoffs took place in June, the first leg on the 18th in Pirmasens, the second leg on the 22nd in Krefeld. After a high-scoring game they parted 4: 4 in Pirmasens, so that the decision about promotion had to be made in the second leg. With a 6-0 success, the blue-reds literally dismantled the southern runner-up in front of 24,000 spectators in their home stadium and thus moved into the Bundesliga. With Prehn, Brinkmann, Hahn and Stieber, Kroke formed the safe defense. The offensive around Wloka, Funkel, Falter, Lüttges and Lurz whirled the guests up and down. With that, the ascent for the team from chairman Arno Eschler and the head of the licensed players department, Paul Hufnagel , was made.
In the Bundesliga season 1975/76 the climber started on August 9, 1975 with a 1: 2 away defeat against Rot-Weiss Essen. Goalkeeper Kroke got to know the goal danger of Horst Hrubesch , the new center forward of the team from Bergeborbeck, who scored both goals in Essen. With the away points balance of 5:29 and the only 28 lap goals achieved, Uerdingen ended up in 18th place at the end of the round and immediately relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. Kroke had guarded the goal in 31 games. In the next two rounds, Paul Hesselbach established himself as the new number 1 in the Uerdingen goal. This should not change in the 1978/79 series either, but a broken hand by Hesselbach led Kroke back into the Uerdinger Tor. When under coach Horst Buhtz the runner-up was reached in the second half of the season and relegation games against the southern vice SpVgg Bayreuth were up, Kroke was again like in 1975 in the Uerdinger Tor. In Bayreuth, the men around Kroke, Hahn and Brinkmann won a 1-1 and on June 20, 1979 prevailed 2-1 in front of 23,000 spectators in the home game and were promoted to the Bundesliga for the second time. This is one of the great successes of the goalkeeper veteran. In the next two rounds in the Bundesliga, he was no longer used and then ended his long career.
At Bayer 05 Uerdingen, he played a total of 31 games in the first Bundesliga between 1971 and 1981 , 67 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and, initially from 1971 to 1974, 101 games in the West Regional Football League.
