Margarete Huber (* in Neresheim ) is a German singer and composer . She works as a concert and opera singer and as a composer for concerts and music theater.

Life

education

Margarete Huber attended the Oberstufenkolleg Bielefeld with the main subjects music and art, and then studied singing, musicology and composition at the University of the Arts , the Humboldt University of Berlin and the University of Bremen . In addition, she completed master classes with György Kurtág , Barbara Schlick and Nigel Rogers . Huber lives in Berlin .

Margarete Huber made her debut with the operatic world premiere of Georg Katzer's L´homme machine-Der Maschinenmensch at the Rheinsberg Castle Theater . As a composer, Huber writes works for chamber music , orchestra , opera , musical theater and electroacoustic music and uses historical techniques from European and non-European music as well as experimental, objects, soundscapes , electronics, circuit bending and visuals. In 2011 she was invited to the “First German-Polish Composition Workshop” and to the “International Microtonality Congress”. Her chamber opera Schattenlos (Libretto: Steffen Thiemann), which premiered in 2017 at the Schlossplatztheater in Berlin , was performed again in the second season in 2018. Huber's compositional approach was presented in a composer portrait of the Cooperativa Neue Musik in 2018.
