history
In 1729 the predecessor of today's church was erected, which became too small for the parish in the first half of the 19th century. In the years 1843–44 a new church was built according to plans by the architect, district builder Leonhard ( St. Wendel ). Carpenter Jost ( Saarbrücken ) was responsible for executing the plans .
After severe damage in World War II , the church building was rebuilt in 1953. According to plans by the architect Hansjakob Lill ( Munich ), the area around the tower was rebuilt and extended with side chapels.
From 1998 to 1999 and from 2001 to 2003 the church was subjected to restoration and conversion work, with the architects Kraemer & Partner (Saarbrücken) being responsible for the latter. Another renovation took place in 2005.
Furnishing
Inside the church, wood sculptor Johann Georg Lang ( Oberammergau ) and wood carver Bur ( Dieblingen ) designed the high altar in the choir in 1957 , with Baroque figures of Our Lady and the Heart of Jesus , flanked by angels, also from the Baroque era . The Marian altar and the pulpit on the side of the chancel also date from 1957, and were restored together with the high altar between 2001 and 2003. In 1974,
glass painter Peter Krämer ( Gevelsberg ) designed church windows with 8 pictures from the life of the Mother of God , which were made by the company Glaskunst Binsfeld ( Trier ). Altar, ambo and baptismal font were made in the course of restoration and renovation work from 2001 to 2003. Other items of equipment are small figures of saints on the walls. The two confessionals were made in 1953 by the Mettler company.
The church also has a memorial chapel for the fallen of the parish, which is equipped with a large cross made of red sandstone .
organ
Today's organ comes from the French company Willy Meurer, who built the instrument in a new case in 1972 using parts from a Stumm organ from 1862 and a Sebald organ from 1952 . In 2003, the electric game mechanism was to be mechanized and the built-on game cabinet was to be converted into a free-standing game table. Initially, the Walcker company was commissioned, but after a few problems during the renovation and the unexplained disappearance of the outsourced prospectus pipes, the order was passed on to Hugo Mayer , which built a new free-standing console including a mechanical system and replaced the missing prospectus pipes with new ones . The abrasive loading instrument that is on a loft is asserted, has 22 registers , spread over 2 manuals and pedal . The action mechanism is mechanical, the stop action is electrical. The disposition is as follows:
