Marikina ( Tagalog Lungsod ng Marikina , "City of Marikina"), also English Marikina City , is a Filipino Component City in the north of the metropolitan area of Metro Manila . According to the 2015 census, Marikina had 450,741 residents who lived in 16 barangays . It is classified as the first income class community in the Philippines and highly urbanized .

Marikina's neighboring communities are Quezon City to the west and north, San Mateo to the northeast, Antipolo City to the east, and Cainta and Pasig City to the south. The topography of the city is characterized by the lowlands in the southeast of the central Luzon lowlands and the mountainous foothills of the Sierra Madre in the northeast.
Worth seeing
The Marikina Shoe Museum, which exhibits a collection of 1500 Imelda Marcos shoes . This museum made the city internationally known in 1978. The Marikina Sports Complex , where in the South East Asia Games in 2005 , the football matches of the women were held.
