Marino (wine)

With the designation Marino DOC , Italian white wines (dry to sweet) as well as sparkling and sparkling wines are developed in the metropolitan city of Rome ( Lazio region ). The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1970 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

The wines are produced in the following communities: Marino (eponymous) and Ciampino as well as in parts of the communities of Rome and Castelgandolfo .

The following composition of grape varieties is prescribed:

  • Marino (either dry, semi-dry, sweet or sweet ): must consist of at least 50% of the grape variety Malvasia Bianca di Candia (also known locally as "Malvasia rossa"). A maximum of 50% other white, non-aromatic grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Lazio region may be added (individually or together).
