Circeo (wine)

Called Circeo DOC are Italian white , rosé and red wines as well as Perl - ( frizzante ) and sparkling wines ( Spumante ) in the region Lazio expanded. The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1996 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

Parts of the following municipalities are permitted for the cultivation and vinification of the wines: Latina , Sabaudia , San Felice Circeo (eponymous) and Terracina - all in the province of Latina .

generation

The following types of wine can be produced:

  • Circeo Bianco (also called Frizzante) and Circeo Spumante : must consist of at least 55% Trebbiano Toscano grape varieties and a maximum of 30% Chardonnay and a maximum of 30% Malvasia del Lazio . A maximum of 15% other white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Lazio region may be added.
  • Circeo Rosso (also as Novello or Frizzante) and Circeo Rosato (also as Frizzante): must consist of at least 55% Merlot grapes , a maximum of 30% Sangiovese and a maximum of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon . A maximum of 15% of other red grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Lazio region may be added.
  • Further, almost single-variety wines can be produced (the grape variety mentioned must contain at least 85%):
  • Circeo Trebbiano
  • Circeo Merlot
  • Circeo Sangiovese
