Marolta (also Lombard ) is a village in the political municipality of Acquarossa, formed in 2004 in the Swiss canton of Ticino . Before that, it formed an independent community.
geography
The village is located in the middle Blenio valley at 793 m above sea level. M., on the eastern slope of Pizzo Molare, 18 kilometers north of Biasca .
history
Marolta is first mentioned in a document in 1205 as Malouta . The origin of the name is uncertain.
In the Middle Ages it belonged with Castro and Ponto Valentino to the neighborhood (vicinia) and to the delivery district (rodaria) Consiglio. The Abbey of San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro of Pavia owned land there at the end of the 12th century. Above the village are the remains of a Casa dei Pagani , a cave castle from the 9th-11th centuries. Century, which could have served as a guard, signal house ( high watch ) or refuge castle.
Marolta became federal in the 16th century . The common property of the old neighborhood was divided up in 1895; since 1897 Marolta has been an independent local civil parish. It has been its own parish since 1909.
On April 4, 2004, the former municipality merged with Castro , Corzoneso , Dongio , Largario , Leontica , Lottigna , Ponto Valentino and Prugiasco to form the new municipality of Acquarossa .

- Casa Romagnolo '(18th century) The Casa Romagnolo was built between 1683 and 1688 by Captain Francesco Romagnolo, judge of the Castro district. The frescoes on the east, west and partly the main facade were probably painted by Carlo Biucchi in 1745 (date on the chimneys). The funny character of the Biucchi brothers from Castro revolves around the two figures. The naked one says: "I've always fought and always won, looks like I'm painted." The other, dressed like a rich knight, says: "I have always fought and always lost, look how different I am."
