Martin Hoffmann (graphic designer)
Martin Hoffmann (born October 7, 1948 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German graphic artist.
Life
After graduating from high school in 1967 and working briefly as a technical computer at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg , Martin Hoffmann studied mathematics at this university from 1968 to 1970 and then at the Humboldt University in Berlin until 1974 . In addition, from 1972 to 1975 he attended an evening course at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . From 1974 to 1975 he worked at the Graetz print shop in Berlin . From 1975 he worked as a freelance painter and graphic artist in Berlin and from 2008 also in Hamburg . His self-published posters in the GDR from 1980 onwards were printed in the Graetz printing house . From 1975 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR .
In autumn 1981 he was one of the co-founders and later an active participant in the Pankow Peace Circle alongside Ruth and Hans-Jürgen Misselwitz . In January 1990 he was one of the initiators in setting up Amnesty International's work in the GDR and then in the eastern federal states .
From 1991 he expanded his work with book designs , commercial graphics and graphic design and since 2000 with collages . He worked as a designer for the appearance of the books published by Gerhard Wolf Janus press . Hoffmann designed several books by Christa Wolf in the GDR and also after 1990, and numerous exhibitions after 1997.
Martin Hoffmann lives in Berlin and Hamburg.
