Maurício Agostinho Camuto

Maurício Agostinho Camuto CSSp (born December 26, 1963 in Golungo Alto , Cuanza Norte province ) is an Angolan religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Caxito .

Life

Maurício Agostinho Camuto joined the religious community of Spiritans and studied Catholic theology in Brazzaville . He put on 5 September 1987, the profession , and received on 28 July 1991, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After being ordained a priest, Maurício Agostinho Camuto initially worked as a pastor in Lândana before he became the rain of the propaedeutic seminary of the Spiritans in the diocese of Malanje in 1995 . From 1999 to 2000 he was rector of the Spiritan scholasticate in the dioceses of Huambo and Benguela . Camuto was sent to Rome in 2000 for further studies , where he obtained a degree in communication studies from the Pontifical University of the Salesians in 2003 . After returning to his homeland, he became the coordinator of the commission for communications at the Bishops' Conference of Angola and São Tomé . From 2006 to 2010 he was director of the Catholic radio station Rádio Ecclesia . Maurício Agostinho Camuto was Provincial Superior of the Spiritans in Angola from 2010 to 2016 . He then worked again as director of the radio station Rádio Ecclesia .

On June 15, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Caxito. The Archbishop of Luanda , Filomeno Vieira Dias , donated him episcopal ordination on August 16 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Benguela, António Francisco Jaca SVD , and the Archbishop of Lubango , Gabriel Mbilingi CSSp.
