The metropolitan Little Rock (also Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area ) is one of six counties existing metropolitan area in the middle of the US -amerikanischen state of Arkansas . The center of the region is Arkansas' capital Little Rock on the Arkansas River .
In 2000 the metropolitan area had 610,518 inhabitants; until the census in 2010 , the population increased to 699,757.

After four counties formed the region until 2002 ( Pulaski , Faulkner , Saline and Lonoke ), Perry County in the west and Grant County in the south were added later. In 2007 the city of Conway in Faulkner County was raised to the third core city ( "Principal City" ) next to Little Rock and North Little Rock .
The six counties of the metropolitan area form the White County in the north and the three counties of the region around Pine Bluff (with the counties Cleveland , Jefferson and Lincoln ) in the south of the Combined Statistical Area (CBA) Little Rock-North Little Rock-Pine Bluff with a total of 877,091 inhabitants (2010).

The Memphis metropolitan area on the Mississippi River in the states of Tennessee , Mississippi, and Arkansas is the closest major metropolitan area. The distance there is 221 km (between the two centers) in an east-northeast direction.

The population in 2000 was 75.4 percent white , 21.0 percent African American , 0.4 percent Native American , 1.0 percent Asian, and 1.0 percent other. 1.3 percent said they came from at least two of these groups. 2.0 percent of the population were Hispanics who belonged to any of the named groups.
