The Faulkner County is a county in the US state of Arkansas . The county seat is Conway . The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited. Faulkner County is part of the Little Rock metropolitan area .

The county is located north of the geographic center of Arkansas and has an area of 1720 square kilometers, of which 43 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Faulkner County was formed on April 12, 1873 from parts of Conway County and Pulaski County. It was named after Colonel Sanford C. Faulkner (1806–1874), an officer, fiddle player and short story teller.

As of the 2000 census , Faulkner County's population was 86,014. Of these, 4,072 people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 31,882 households and 22,444 families. The population density was 51 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 88.33 percent white, 8.48 percent African American, 0.52 percent Native American, 0.72 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.68 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.23 percent are descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race 1.75 percent of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 31,882 households, 35.7 percent had children or adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 56.7 percent were married couples living together, 10.2 percent were single mothers, 29.6 percent were non-families. 22.5 percent of all households were single households and 6.9 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.04.
25.6 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 15.3 percent between 18 and 24, 30.1 percent between 25 and 44, 19.5 percent between 45 and 64 and 9.5 percent were 65 years or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 95.5 males and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there was an average of 92.3 males.
The median income for a household in the 38,204 USD , and the median income for a family 45,946 USD. Males had a median income of $ 32,288 versus $ 24,428 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,988. 7.9 percent of families and 12.5 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
