The Franklin County is a county in the US state of Arkansas . With Ozark and Charleston , the county has two county seats .

The county lies on the Ozark - Plateau in the central northwestern Arkansas, is in the north about 80 km from Missouri , to the west about 40 km from Oklahoma away and has an area of 1,605 square kilometers, of which 26 square kilometers is water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Franklin County was formed on December 19, 1837 from parts of Crawford County. It was named after Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790), one of the founding fathers of the USA.
In 1871 Logan County was founded on part of what was then larger Franklin County.
The county originally only had one courthouse in Ozark. The second was added in Charleston in the 1890s.
German and Swiss immigrants brought with them the knowledge of wine production, for which the county is still known today.
