The county is located in central northwest Arkansas, about 60 km to the east from Oklahoma , and covers an area of 1,895 square kilometers, of which 56 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Logan County was formed on March 22, 1871 from parts of Franklin County, Johnson County, Pope County, Scott County, and Yell County. It was named after James Logan (1791-1859), a pioneer and later member of the Arkansas General Assembly .
