The Craighead County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Arkansas . In 2010 the county had 96,443 residents and a population density of 52.4 people per square kilometer. With Jonesboro ( Western District ) and Lake City ( Eastern District ) the county has two administrative seats ( County Seats ). The county is part of the dry counties , which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

The county is located almost in the extreme northeast of Arkansas and borders Missouri at its northeastern tip . It has an area of 1,847 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers are water. history
Craighead County was formed on February 19, 1859 from parts of Greene County, Mississippi County and Poinsett County. It was named after Thomas H. Craighead (1798-1862), a representative of Mississippi Counties and Crittenden Counties in the Arkansas government.

The racial the population was composed of 81.2 percent white, 13.1 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American, 1.1 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 4.4 percent of the population.

24.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 63.2 percent were between 18 and 64 and 12.3 percent were 65 years or older. 51.6 percent of the population was female.
