The county is almost in the extreme southeast of Arkansas; it is about 22 miles east of the Mississippi River , which forms the border with Tennessee . Louisiana is about 50 km to the south. Drew County covers an area of ​​2,164 square kilometers, of which 19 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

Drew County was formed on November 26, 1846 from parts of Arkansas County and Bradley County. It was named after Thomas Stevenson Drew (1802–1879), the fourth governor of Arkansas (1844–1849).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census , Drew County had 18,509 people in 7,704 households. The population density was 8.6 people per square kilometer.

The racial the population was composed of 68.8 percent white, 27.8 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.5 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.2 percent were descended from two or more races.
